COI Framework

Going beyond amendments to the Listing Requirements (LR), this programme is designed to explore the rationale and implications arising from the enhanced conflict of interest framework in the LR and explore the various challenges arising thereof.

In this updated edition, we will discuss recent and ongoing COI cases in Corporate Malaysia, link COI examples to relevant provisions in CA2016, explore directorships in competing companies (customers & supplier side) and review measures to be taken by conflicted directors.

Mr. Chee is the Director and Principal Trainer at CKM Advisory Sdn Bhd, a company specializing in training related to Bursa Malaysia’s Main and ACE Markets Listing Requirements.

Before founding CKM Advisory Sdn Bhd, Mr. Chee served as the Head and Vice President of Listing Advisory & Development at Bursa Malaysia. He established and led the Listing Advisory division, which provides guidance and advice to listed companies and their advisors (including investment banks, legal firms, audit firms, and secretarial firms) on the interpretation and application of the Listing Requirements.

Mr. Chee also held the position of Director, Compliance & Advisory at Tricor Corporate Service Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, he was responsible for advising the firm’s corporate secretarial and share registrar teams, as well as clients listed on Bursa Malaysia, on compliance with the Listing Requirements.

With over 30 years of experience in advisory work related to Listing Requirements, Mr. Chee has gained extensive knowledge from three different perspectives: as a regulator with Bursa Malaysia, as a consultant, and as an officer with corporate finance experience in a company listed on Bursa Malaysia.

Mr. Chee has conducted training on Listing Requirements for directors, CEOs, CFOs, and company secretaries of listed companies, as well as corporate finance personnel of investment banks. He has delivered training both in his capacity as a Bursa officer and as a professional corporate trainer.

Additionally, he has conducted training sessions for Bursa Malaysia’s Technical Briefing programs and various programs for the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Asian Banking School (ABS), Malaysian Investor Relations Association (MIRA), and Malaysian Investment Banking Association (MIBA).

Mr. Chee is a registered HRD Corp Trainer.
